WHAT TO EXPECT
Congratulations on making the investment decision to add video to your wedding day.
Your big day will be here before you know it so here are a few things you can expect from me and that need to be considered in your planning and timeline construction.
I usually arrive a bit before your photographer as I have a little setup I like to perform before we start shooting. Lights, tripods, etc. I will also use this time to capture any aerial footage of the venue. Weather and FAA permitting of course.
There will be a great deal of activity happening all around the venue while you are getting ready so throughout the day I will be in and out of your bridal suite (I will always knock to get an “all clear”) as well as the groom's suite while preparations are occurring. Your photographer and I will often be working side-by-side during those key moments such as final makeup, final touches on your dress and first looks to name a few.
After the ceremony, while you are taking family photos, I will be using this time to capture your final reception room details and setting up for your grand entrance.
There are a couple of video specific instances that you will need to allow for within your timeline. If you and your fiancé will be writing your own vows or writing each other letters, I would like to get an “audio only” recording of each of you reading your own letter or vows into a small recorder that I will provide. Preferably before the ceremony begins, provided you are willing to do so. Many times I am able to use small portions of these recordings within your wedding film. This will need to be a private moment with just you in the room but of course you can have anyone there you wish.
The other instance will be during your couple sunset photo/video session. Your photographer and I will once again be working side-by-side during this time but I will need you two to perform a few posing moves during this session specific to video, so we need to allow for this. Maybe 10 minutes tops. Please make sure your planner or coordinator or whomever is constructing your timeline is aware of this.
You also need to be aware that I will be using lights during the reception. Primarily during the speeches and the dancing. This is a requirement and cannot be altered. Rest assured they will be unobtrusive and focused on the dance floor and not the entire room and will not affect the vibe of your celebration in any negative way. Cameras need light and video cameras don’t have the advantage of a flash so this is a requirement for capturing video in the darker environment of the reception.
As always, if you have any questions at all please feel free to contact me directly at any time.
